The Delaware County District Library had three goals that played into their John Cotton Dana award-winning campaign: pass a levy, increase cardholders, and join a 17-member library consortium all while maintaining a consistent and positive brand identity. All goals were met through clear and intentional messaging strategies, along with a visually stunning campaign. However, just weeks after the Library received notification of their award, the Library was thrust into the national spotlight due to local controversy over a teen drag makeup program. This time, with zero opportunity for planning, it was a crisis communications tactic of being upfront, clear and transparent that kept the Library’s message on target and ahead of the trolls.
Join this discussion between LMCC President Jennifer E. Burke and DCDL Communications Manager Nicole Fowles as we kick off the 2019 Library Marketing and Communications Conference.
