Pimp My Book Display: Transforming a Powerful Outreach Tool

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

Book displays can be found in most public and academic libraries all over the country, but they are primarily seen as tools to increase circulation stats, increase awareness of certain collections, or help patrons find their next book to read. The book display’s power as an outreach tool has been largely overlooked by the professional literature. This session will outline, using the once-popular, early 2000s MTV show "Pimp My Ride" as a guiding theme, how to take your book display from a standard, hum-drum collection of books to a vision and mission fulfilling, interdisciplinary, engaging, buzz-generating display.
